BAMA WINS AT PIONEERBirmingham, AL - The Alabama men's and women's wheelchair basketball teams took home gold and bronze this weekend at the Pioneer Classic in Birmingham Alabama. The Alabama women won the Women's Championship at the Pioneer Classic for the 4th straight season. Alabama Defeated the University llinois in the Championship game by a score of 75-42. The Alabama women were paced in scoring by Cindy Ouellet with 20 points on 10 for 15 shooting to go with 7 assists. Karolina Lingyte scored 19 points on 9 for 14 shooting and pulled 10 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Elisha Williams scored 18 points and had 8 assists and Kimmie Champion scored 12 points on 6 for 7 shooting from the field. The Alabama women are now 11-6 on the year after playing mostly men's teams during the first portion of their schedule. The Alabama Men finished third place with a consolation round win over the Orlando Magic 79-64. Led by second semester newcomer Bo Hedges, and his 16 points the tide pulled away in the second half to win going away. Ryan Hynes added a team high 22 points, while Killworth and Arambula added 13 and 12 respectively.The team record is now 14-5.
